Transforming old into new

Our upcycled bags are your sustainable travel buddy

Following our motto “Öffis nützen, Klima schützen” we set a strong example for sustainability within the scope of public transport. For this reason, we have dedicated ourselves to a very special project this summer. The aim was to reuse goods that can no longer be sold, instead of producing something new. Thus, the idea for our new upcycled bags was born. In collaboration with the Austrian sustainability company re:flair, we have upcycled cloth masks and uniforms to make stylish tote bags.

Collaboration for a sustainable future

The company re:flair specialized on sustainable processing of no longer used corporate objects. Hence, they also brought new life to our cloth masks. Click here to visit their website. The white bags were produced by re:flair. For the black masks re:flair initiated another cooperation with the Nähwerkstatt from Die Nachbarinnen, a Viennese association, which is dedicated to the integration of people with a migration or refugee background. The Nähwerkstatt offers a first job opportunity for some of them.

High quality with attention to detail

The fashionable tote bag is available in white with colorful network map design or in black with white network map design. Every single bag has been crafted with love and a lot of attention to detail. The white bag is made of 18 cloth masks and the black bag even consists of noteworthy number of 36. For the inside of the bag, polo shirts from the uniforms were skillfully repurposed and a special patchwork technique was applied. The process was very complex and therefore took three to five hours per bag. According to the tailors each bag could be a haute couture piece, because the effort for manufacturing it was so high. Needless to say, all the effort pays off without a doubt, as the end product is clearly impressive. The used method adds a unique touch and outstanding quality to every bag. It is a stylish eye catcher both in black and in white and an upgrade for every outfit

Small changes can make a big difference

With this upcycling project we want to show that it is possible to switch to sustainable alternatives when it comes to merchandising products. Therefore, you can contribute to a more conscious use of resources not only by using public transport but also by buying merchandising products.
