The lack of driving personnel due to their recruitment in World War II meant that most of the conductors who remained at home were used in driving service. Their posts were filled by women. Since feial conductors in particular, were very popular with the passengers, a song titeled "Love, little conductor" was dedicated to them. After the Second World War, there were no longer any gender differences in admissions.
